Sixth Saturday in Ordinary Time

Change in focus

From today’s Scripture: Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, ‘Rabbi, it is good that we are here!’”—Mk 9:5

These words of Peter, I believe, are the most understated words in Scripture. He said these words after the three disciples witnessed the Transfiguration of Jesus. This marks a change of focus in the mission of Jesus from acts of miracles to how to live the life of a disciple. The Transfiguration is a glimpse of resurrection, new life. Jesus offers this to his followers.

I want to be dazzling white, I want to rise to everlasting life. This is the future for all who proclaim Jesus, and live his life.

Let us pray: Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your transfiguration. Unite me with you. I pray I can keep focus on the way of life you call me to live.
