Clear command
From today’s Scripture: “Then a cloud came, casting a shadow over them; then from the cloud came a voice, ‘This is my beloved Son. Listen to him.’”—Mk 9:7
There are passages of scripture we hear so often we can forget how extraordinary they are. In today’s Gospel Jesus is transfigured before Peter, James and John in an amazing show of his divinity. At the end of the experience, God the Father speaks directly to the apostles with a clear command: Follow my son. When the voice of God speak his, we should all listen.
Let us pray: Father, we ask you to open our eyes to the divinity of your son and the importance of hearing his words.
