Imitate Christ

From today’s Scripture: “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”—1 Cor 11:1

When I read “The Story of a Soul,” the autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux, I was so amazed by her spirituality and virtue. I thought to myself, I could never be as holy as her! But that’s the beauty of the Catholic Churchthere are so many holy men and women, with a wide array of personalities living through a variety of situations, who were imitators of Christ.

When I was pregnant with my first child, it gave me great comfort to think of the women saints who had successfully given birth and raised holy children. If they could do it, so could I! The saints are there to pray for us and encourage us on our journey toward heaven. Let us look to their example as we imitate Christ in our daily lives.

Let us pray: Lord, show me today one way that I can imitate your love and mercy more closely in my life.
