Sixth Wednesday of Easter

The presence of Jesus

From today’s Scripture: “‘I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.’”—Jn 16:12-13

Many nights I sit in the dark in Our Lady of the Fields Chapel and look out the windows. I see the lights in the distance through the barren trees, I imagine all the love and joy God has given me. I see the lights of cars going in different directions and I think of how often and surprisingly God comes into my life. And I imagine all that God is still wanting and revealing to me. I just sit and take it all in.

When Jesus told the disciples he had much more to tell them, but they could not take it all at that time; that the Spirit of truth will guide them to all truth, so it is in our lives.in the quiet moments, God’s Spirit continues to guide and reveal God’s plan. That could be like sitting in a dark chapel, or even at your home, and seeing the lights of God coming into your life. Take time to sit and enjoy the lights of God’s Spirit.

Let us pray: Loving God, help me to slow down and sit quietly. Help me to allow your Spirit to light up my soul so that I might walk where it is. Lead me that I might bring your light of truth to others along the way.
