Word made flesh

From today’s Scripture: Let what you heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that he made us: eternal life.—1 Jn 2:24-25
Jesus is the Word. This Word, this breath, is not simply a sound or text on a page but is like the breath in our lungs. It remains in us as it gives life to our bodies. With this word God created all things. With this word, Jesus breathed life eternal on his disciples. That is the seal in which we are united in God. Remain in this life today through Word and Sacrament. In the words of St. Augustine, “become what you receive.”
Let us pray: Holy Father, by your Word all things were made and all things have been redeemed. Grant that your Word may remain in me this day. Help me to experience, ever afresh, eternal life.
