Daily Reflection

St. Benedict

Tough love

From today’s Scripture: “Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow.”—Is 1:17

Does it at times seem easy to love God, yet nearly impossible to love our neighbors? The words of God spoken through Isaiah remind us that we do not simply honor God with our words, but also with our actions.

How many times have I turned a blind eye to the injustices going on in our world? How many times have I been indifferent to certain evils in our world because it does not affect me? May we realize God’s presence and call in the daily needs and troubles of those around us.

Let us pray: Lord, let me realize your presence in all people, especially those who I find the most difficult to love.
