Presence of God

From today’s Scripture: In this way, the children of God and the children of the Devil are made plain; no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God, nor anyone who does not love his brother.—1 Jn 3:10
Christ’s coming in Christmas brings with it light. This light was followed by others and is still followed today as God reveals himself in our lives. This “following on the way” is a following to and with Christ.
Christ is the way. As St. Teresa of Avila said, in meeting Christ in this way we enter into heaven, into the presence of God. This isn’t an anxious moralism but rather an opening of one’s eyes to one’s brother, to those in need. We see Christ as we seek to clothe, serve and love our neighbor.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, through your Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see the reality of your nearness. Today, help me to adore Christ in my neighbor.
