Treat all with mercy

From today’s Scripture: [The scholar of the law] answered, “The one who treated him with mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”—Lk 10:37
In our contemporary situation, we also wrestle with who is our neighbor and how to treat them. Jesus is saying that even the ones we don’t like (or even hate) and those in the most need are our neighbors.
Jesus is clear, we are to treat all people with mercy. As we remember St. Francis, he even embraced the leper.
Let us pray: May we grow in our capacity to be merciful—because God is merciful to us and to all people. May we embrace the others with compassion as did the Good Samaritan and St. Francis
