St. John Bosco

Eyes on Jesus

From today’s Scripture: “Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us rid ourselves of every burden and sin that clings to us and persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.”—Hb 12:1-2

To fix our eyes on Jesus is the goal of all Christians, but a goal that can be hard to obtain. Life has many distractions. Where is God in each daily activity and in our encounter with another?

A great example, whose feast we celebrate today is St. John Bosco. He kept his eyes on Jesus as he spent his life in service to the poor boys of Italy. He took them off the streets, gave them a home and helped them learn a trade.

Our focus on Jesus will lead us to new and life giving adventures in our life and the lives of others.

Let us pray: Loving Lord, you have given us many examples of how we are to live by the many saints that we look to as role models. I pray for the grace to keep focused on my calling to be devoted to living out your teachings.
