Are miracles real?

From today’s Scripture: “Do all work mighty deeds?”—1 Cor 12:29
Do you believe in miracles? In 2022 people say, “If I can’t prove it with science, it’s not real.” But Jesus wasn’t worried about science when he multiplied the loaves and fishes, or more dramatically, as he did in today’s Gospel, raised the dead. The world is subject to the laws of nature established by God, but God is not bound by them!
In the first reading St. Paul talks about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which can be bestowed on any believer. Jesus worked mighty deeds. His apostles did too. So did their followers. Saints throughout the ages have been given power by the Spirit to do amazing things. It may not be for you or I to do miracles, but never doubt that they’re still happening today.
Let us pray: Grant us, O Lord, a mind open to the wonders of your work.
