Our own failings

From today’s Scripture: “‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when do you not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye?”—Lk 6:42
Jesus is asking us to reflect on our own lives before we judge others. As followers of Jesus Christ, it is important to be aware of our own failings before we judge others. It is a good exercise to reflect on our failings before reflecting on others’ failings. In this reading, Jesus calls us to know ourselves before we judge others. I am challenged to know my blind spots and my failings as a Catholic Christian.
Let us pray: Lord, guide me to know my failings and blind spots before teaching and judging others.
