Humility of God

From today’s Scripture: “Beloved: Clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another…”—1 Pt 5:5b
The Good Friday Catholic Liturgy begins with the dramatic gesture of the minister prostrating himself in silence on the floor. Obviously the “going back to the dust” is a great reminder that we are dust and into dust we shall return. That is the literal meaning of humility that we hear today in our first reading.
At the heart of Easter message is the humility of God, demonstrated on the cross to save each one of us. And so must we, if we truly are Christ’s followers.
Tim McGraw in his “Humble and Kind” song, captures humility well in his following words: “Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you. When you get where you’re going, don’t forget to turn back around, help the next one in line. Always stay humble and kind.” Let this be our prayer today!
