Love the poor.

From today’s Scripture: “‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?’”—Mt 25:37
Today we celebrate the feast of St Peter Claver. a Spanish Jesuit, the patron saint of enslaved people. He was present to the slaves when they arrived to Colombia, in the colonies of South America. He personally baptized 300,000 people and heard the Confession of over 5,000 people every year! He was called the slave of the slaves.
His love for the poorest of the poor was exceptional. Are we present to the poorest of the poor? Who are they in our lives? We can we be physically, mentally, spiritually poor?
Let us pray: Lord guide me to those who are poor. Show me how I can be a true servant, an instrument of your love.
