All in a name

From today’s Scripture: “When I called, you answered me; you built up strength within me.”—Ps 138:3
Do angels have specific job descriptions? I wonder sometimes because when you reflect upon what Michael means: “who is like God?” Gabriel is “the strength of God” and Raphael is “God’s remedy.” What does it mean?
Parents choose their children’s names for a reason, whether it be to somehow carry on the tradition, the name of a family member, or to remind the child, as he or she grows, that they have a particular gift from God. Names mean something.
What is the significance of your baptismal name and what does that demand of you?
Let us pray: O God, help me to ponder today the gifts you have given to me. Help me to understand how deeply you call my name from within. Help me to listen to you.
