Third Friday of Advent

Daily Reflection

Third Friday of Advent

Take a breath.

From today’s Scripture: “Come, Lord, bring us your peace, that we may rejoice before you with a perfect heart.”—Alleluia antiphon

We are preparing to enter the final days before Christmas. How has Advent been? If it has been like any other year, it’s probably been pretty busy with everything else EXCEPT deepening our awareness of, our readiness for, the Incarnation. And now we’re running out of time to get presents and prepare for holiday events!

Stop for a moment. Take a breath. Think about where we would be without God, without Jesus. Renew your resolve to enter into this last week with spiritual focus. Yes, do every thing that needs to be done. But pray your way through it. And be mindful of love.

Let us pray: God, help me today to remember who I am, and who you are. Give me a sharper sense of your presence in my life. Help me to love my neighbor.
