Imagine!
From today’s Scripture: “You are witnesses of these things.” —Lk 24:48
“I Can Only Imagine” is a song that fits well with today’s reading. The apostles were witnesses to the risen Lord. They heard his calming words, “Peace be with you.” They saw his hands and feet and witnessed him eating with them. They shared the good news of his resurrection.
We are called to be witnesses as well, but first we have to imagine in prayerful reflection what it must have been like to see the risen Jesus. St. Ignatius teaches a way of prayer through the imagination.
Using all our senses, we can be there that day as Jesus appears to the apostles. We can see his face, his hands, his feet, etc. We can hear his words of hope and peace. We can taste the piece of fish. We can smell the food on the table. We can touch his outstretched hand. He is with us today as much as he was with the apostles then. He sends us forth to all nations.

Let us pray: O Jesus, help me to rest in prayer, imagining with you the appearance to the apostles and being sent as a witness to your risen life. Let me give testimony to your love and mercy. Amen. Alleluia.
