Third Thursday of Advent

Third Thursday of Advent

Sing with joy!

From today’s Scripture: “You changed my mourning into dancing; O LORD, my God, forever will I give you thanks.”—Ps 30:11-12

Now in the third week of Advent, we can see Christmas around the corner. We might be running out for non-stop shopping. We might even be about done with online orders, anticipating extra time for all of the delivery.

Let us, instead, focus on who we are in God.

Can I sing with joy, even as we feel the darkness of this Advent? Can I praise the Lord, from this place of unknowing? Am I confident that the Lord is taking care of me? This Advent might well be like a retreat where we ponder these things. With the psalmist we sing, “O LORD, my God, forever will I give you thanks.

Let us pray: God, help me get out of the way and look to you for sustenance. Help me to overcome selfishness, even self-pity during this difficult time. Lord, you are joy itself. Help me to sing out!
