Third Thursday of Advent

God restores

From today’s Scripture: “He will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love, He will sing joyfully because of you as one sings at festivals.”Zep 3:17-18a

Zephaniah was a prophet in Jerusalem, around 640 BCE. At that time, the faith of the Israelites was at a low ebb, and he told the people they would experience doom and judgment as a result. And, they did, from some of their traditional enemies. But, God is also merciful, spared a faithful remnant, rejoiced over them, and restored them to freedom and joy.

Let us pray: My God, I am sorry for the sins I and my people have committed. In your mercy, forgive us and restore us to the beautiful life of following Jesus wholeheartedly.
