Third Thursday of Lent

One in the Spirit

From today’s Scripture: “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.”—Lk 11:23

Jesus’ disciples came in all sizes, languages, and many unique backgrounds. Jesus’ message was appealing to many. For those who were hardened of heart, Jesus’ message made them angry to the point they called for his death. Some of those who were proclaiming the words of Jesus were not part of the group. Jesus’ message was that those who spoke and lived the truth were his followers.

This reading calls to see others from different Christian churches, cultures, and languages who are seeking to be followers of Jesus as part of my family. Jesus always prayed for unity, that all would be one. Lent is a great opportunity to participate in ecumenical services.

Let us pray: We are one in the Spirit. We are one in the Lord. Amen.
