Third Tuesday in Ordinary Time

Dance with abandon

From today’s Scripture: “Then David, girt with a linen apron, came dancing before the Lord with abandon, as he and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and to the sound of the horn.” –2 Sm 6:14-15

I am not a good dancer, but I remember a friend’s wedding a few years ago where I had the most fun dancing. I was filled with so much joy being with all of my friends and celebrating a beautiful marriage that I did not care what I looked like dancing. That is how I imagine David dancing before the Lord – filled with joy and dancing with his whole heart. How often do we come before the Lord with our whole heart? Whether that be with joy, sadness, anger, longing – the Lord wants it all.

Let us pray: God, help me to share my whole heart with you today. Teach me how to give you all my joys and sorrows and find comfort in your infinite love.
