Surrendering to God

From today’s Scripture: “Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.’”—Lk 1:28
In some cultures, servanthood was a common form of employment for people with limited education. With universal education, servanthood is rare in developed countries and most people are willing to accomplish a task, but do not want detailed instructions on how to accomplish the task. We want to maintain our dignity.
Even when we pray, we sometimes tell God what we want God to do instead of surrendering ourselves to do whatever God wants of us.
Mary had a better approach of surrendering to God. May we follow her life-giving example.
Let us pray: Mary, you knew the road to God and to life. Teach me to follow your way.
