Vigil of the Assumption

Our unique call

From today’s Scripture: “Rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and observe it.”—Luke 11:28

These words of Jesus are His response to a woman in the crowd who cried out, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” Jesus is taking nothing away from His mother, who had her own unique call. He reminds us that each of us has our own unique call which we discover by letting the word of God guide our lives.

Mary’s constant desire was to be led by the word of God: “…let it be done to me according to thy word…”

Let us pray: Lord, open my mind to know your will, and open my heart to follow it faithfully.
